I'm sure I'm depressed now, but i'm 14. Can I get an appointment !

Question: I'm sure I'm depressed now, but i'm 14. Can I get an appointment for a therapist or something without my mum..?
I want an appointment without my mum there. Can i if im under 16?

Answers:

Yes you can. Though your mother/parent would have to be the one arranging the appointment. I myself have to go through weekly therapy on my own, but I'm 16. I do have a few younger friends that see the same therapist though.
It shouldn't be a problem. :)

Your mother would need to make the arrangements, but she doesn't have to be in the actual sessions with you if you don't want her to. The therapist is not allowed to divulge anything you say to your mother, unless you 1) are suicidal, 2) self-harm in any way, and/or 3) are planning to harm yourself or another person in any way.

There's this thing called patient confidentiality. So if the reason you want to go without your mom is because you don't want her to know what's going on, this protects you. The thereapist can't share any information with her unless you are a danger to yourself, or others in which case saftey is in the best intrest. Talk to a soical worker at school, they may be able to help you as well as reccomend you as far as seeing someone.

Im 14 too n at ur school u should b able to book one without ur mum, n u can tell em that u dont want ur mum there/to know about it either

Experience

Just call the therapist's office and see what's up.
