Can you be depressed and not know it?!

Question: Can you be depressed and not know it?
Answers:

I do not know others but as far as me is concerned I know when I am depressed. It brings the feelings of loneliness, helplessness. Laugh is disappeared from my face and unusual thoughts rips my mind. But I never felt suicidal as I very much knew that one day every thing will be right. Very often I am depressed for several days and get well too.

Yes.From experience i know.I had depression for 7 years and didnt even know it until just before i overcame it.It wasnt until somebody mentioned depression that i realized that i was depressed and i discovered ways to beat stress and all of a sudden i became happy and when i looked back i worked it out that i was depressed for 7 years.I denied i had depression because i didnt understand it then i finally accepted it and overcame it.It was like huge weight of my shoulders now im happy the majority of the time and nothing bothers me much anymore.

Yes you can.
Ask your friends and family simple questions like How do I look today?
Do I look or seem like this everyday?
They will if they are good friends or trusting family members tell you the honest truth and not take the mick.
Just try to find something new to do each day, keep it simple and fun.
If your bored put bored into google, or randomly put things into google (positive ones) so you can laugh at it and get those natural endorphines going.
Also listen and watch inspirational videos on youtube anything to get you feeling up again. You will fall again but you still won't be in the same place you were before you started, if you get what i mean.
Good Luck and keep around people! Especially the positive crazy bunch!

Personal Experiance

Yes! Of course you can - most people who are or have suffered from depression did not even realise they were depressed - they only realise when someone points out to them that they need to get help.

Yes, a lot of people with depression can have it and not know it. People will actually deny it unless they are diagnosed by a doctor.

Maybe. Some people mistake depression for being extremely sad. Most of the time though, you realize that there's something not quite right.
