My friend is suffering from a serious "nervous break down" will he eve!

Question: My friend is suffering from a serious "nervous break down" will he ever recover?
A friend of mine (18 years old) was rushed into hospital two weeks ago because his family said he couldnt eat, found it hard to breathe, he had lost his memory, was delirious etc. Basically his body and mind wasn't functioning properly. He had complained about a headache the night before he was taken and then became very frantic and was acting crazy (running around aimlessly shouting etc)

In hospital they couldnt work out what it was, he was still unable to function properly. They did head scans and everything was normal. They have now come to the conclusion that he is suffering from a nervous break down.

His upbringing at a child was extremely sheltered and his family often prevented him from coming out with us and doing most kid-like things (sleepovers, going to the park etc). Could this be the cause?

He is now in a home which is pretty much like a mental institute, he will be on medication for a whole year! He is talking very little and still not the same.

Will he be like this forever? Or is this just a phase that he will recover from and be back to his jolly self? I'm very concerned about him and his health.

Thanks

He can recover, but it is a slow and painstaking process, old friends can help tremendously, but an enormous amount of patience must be involved, he may start by seeing a therapist or a Psychologist to help get him on the right path...

well i dont know if its a disorder like schitzophrenia or if its stress or what. But one thing that will determine how good he gets is you. Its proven people with better levels of social support get better faster.

It's up to how mentally strong he is. Hopefully he will recover. God bless!
