What is considered trauma?!


Question: What is considered trauma?
obviously things like rape, witnessing murder, walking in on a robbery, etc. are all trauma. what about things like moving to a new neighborhood, having medical problems, having someone tell you you're too fat multiple times, etc.? are those trauma too?

Answers:

Trauma is pretty much determined by how the person responds to something . Name calling and bullying can by the source of trauma, depending on the extent and effects on the person.
Moving can be traumatic given the right circumstances, yes.
Abuse can be traumatic , yes.
Even surgery is considered a physical 'trauma'. Medical problems can certainly be traumatic, it is wellknown the first responses of being told you have something horrible is traumatic. Even a normally private person involved in a law suit, or something can be traumatic.
So , it depends on the circumstances.
the obvious things are not the only causes.

Trauma just means stressing. We some times use this medical term when someone just gets a paper cut. We say trauma.



Name calling is abusive and very distressing but not considered 'trauma'.
