How do you "get over" depression?!

Question: How do you "get over" depression?
I have clinical depression; been dealing with it for a couple of years now. I have heard from several people (including my doctor and therapist to an extent) that if you choose to be happy you will be. Of course I want to be happy; I don't think I choose to be depressed, so how can I "just be happy"?

Answers:

Therapy, medication, exercise, getting some sun, prayer and hav amazing support from ur friends...

Unfotunately, 'just being happy' is not always possible 4 some of us and whoever told u that is an idiot.

Other than that still tryin 2 figure it out 4 myself.

Depression doesn't just go away on its own, though there are things that can help.

Exercise helps a lot because it releases endorphins in the brain, provoking a "feel good" feeling.

There are also medications out there to help with depression, though you would need to see a doctor first to see if meds are appropriate for you, and if so, the particular drug and dosage.

Being outside more often may also be of help.

I used to be depressed and what helped me get out of it was to go outside more. I woke up and watched the sunset and I always said to myself "How could I be sad when the sun rises everyday? When there is so much beauty around me, how could I stay in my room and cry." There is just something about being outside that made me feel better. I hope that I helped!

Spend some time to your loved ones. Tell them what's bothering you and i know they will understand what you are going through. There are also can be bought some mood enhancers in the market and online.

You cannot just get over it, although drugs can mask it for a while.
