I know what you mean.

People walk around nonchalantly expressing to theirselves and the public that "they are depressed" and so sad because their boyfriends dumped them or they scored a B- on a test.

But I want to say to them people.........they don't KNOW what it feels like to be depressed. I was in college, living a normal life. Becoming homesick, getting physically ill, and the stress of college pounding down on me combined to form a weakened immunity. I do not like to take medicines but know they are important; however, this was a strong antibiotic: doxycycline.

I took the medicine, sat down and started doing homework. When my roommate left, I stopped doing all homework. I felt so lonely, wanted someone to talk to albeit it being 1 AM. I then proceeded to cry. It was not no little puppy pout either, it was more like a bawling weepathon. This happened for weeks. I'd make little associations and even thought about people around me dying, thought I had cancer, and even proceeded to think that maybe I was going to die. It was all very sad to me and I felt like complete crap.

It was the medication. I figured it out on my own but it was not easy. Although not a common listed side effect, it caused me deep sadness that words could never describe. What is going on in your life that might be upsetting you, it sounds like you are depressed and need to talk to someone. Talk to someone that understands you most and can listen and provide feedback. They will help you.

I've been there.

Crying can be very healing for your body. Sometimes we just need to get out our emotions and talk about things that are bothering us, even if they aren't that serious by some standards. If you need someone to talk to, you can call Boystown hotline at 1-800-448-3000 anytime day or night to talk to a trained counselor about your problems. We also have a website for teens at www.yourlifeyourvoice.org where you can chat and email with others who may be having similar issues.
Wish you all the best,
Counselor RR

I'm not saying that it sounds like anything is medically wrong with you, but maybe a doctor could help you figure out what's going on.
