Are these signs of Bipolar Disorder or Mania?!

Question: Are these signs of Bipolar Disorder or Mania?
When I attend a church, I feel anxious that the people will stare at me to the point that I'm not welcomed there. I even asked my husband what if someone ask me to leave. I attended a church of my race and I felt so uneasy when I was meeting a friend there. I wouldn't go down the aisle in fear of the stares or think someone is looking at me, that I would catch glances that aren't friendly. I make sure I dress very nice at church so that I would be excepted. I would wear my antique jewelry that's expensive looking I wouldn't look like I was poor. Except someone told me I look like I stepped out of a magazine. If the preacher asks to great each other, I struggle so hard to shake hands with someone and can't wait to go and wash my hands. Will someone help me to understand what's going on with me? Is it paranoia deep destroyer?(The Kinks)

Answers:

It sounds like you might have some OCD and social anxiety disorder along with your bipolar. Also, religious folks do have a tendency to look down on other people, so don't fret about that too much.

Mania is a symptom of Bi-polar disorder and not usually seperate. You don't sound like you have Bi-polar disorder. You do sound self-concious, paranoid and maybe experiencing some social anxiety? Social anxiety in it's severe form is called agoraphobia. You seem concerned that you will be judged. I feel sad that you would feel like that in a place of worship. Maybe talk to your preacher, ask him or her for guidance. Talk to your doctor. These issues warrant discussion. Most of all, breathe!! Breathing in and out slowly and conciously of your breath can work wonders!

Uhh, far from Bipolar, do your research before asking such a question. Just sounds like you're self conscious and paranoid about what others think of you. NOT bipolar or manic.

you sound like you have low self esteem. Maybe you need to trust people more?
