Were you able to get through your depression without telling anyone?!

Question: Were you able to get through your depression without telling anyone?
Were you able to get through your depression without telling anyone? If so, how, and how long did it take?

Also, please don't assume anything and lecture me. D: I know my boundaries. I want to live a normal life, not a life where everyone knows I'm mentally unstable and constantly ask me if I'm okay. I want to try first, to handle this on my own. I think I can, and I want to try my best doing so. But I just want to know if anyone else was able to do it without relying on other people.

If you have gone through this and ended up asking for help in the end . . . how did you get over the fear of telling someone? And did it help at all any more than it did when you faced it on your own? Please, and thank you. c:

My depression only lasted a couple months. I never told anyone about it. I just occupied my time with anything I could think of. Eventually i just started to feel happy again. But, I became happy again when I started listening to Queen. Hmmm. Queen saved my life!
I'm being serious too!
Here's my advice to you, don't listen to the Doors or Pink Floyd until your depression is gone.
But after wards listen to them they rock!

I didn't tell anyone, but I also took the wrong path. I got heavy into drugs and it nearly killed me on more than one occasion. I was 16, addicted to coke, vicodin, xanax, methadone and klonopin and I didn't know how to tell my parents I needed help. One day I took 17 2mg klonopin and when i came home i couldnt even stand up.. My parents rushed me to the hospital and I had a heart beat of 49 Bpm. That's when I knew i needed help. I asked my mum and she got me in rehab, now im 10 months sober and never been happier. (:

I didn't have to tell anyone about my depression, they saw it.

Personally, no. When I am depressed I want to be left alone. I want to watch tv, sleep, play videogames, anything that is distracting me from how crappy I feel. After a while of doing this, even after the depression lessens - that isolation feel comfortable so you don't change it. Therefore, you are doing what you do when you're depressed all year round, which keeps you depressed.

The things that made me snap out of depression are a few things:

1. A person to talk to. Anyone who will listen and just understand. I don't want to hear their opinion. I just want them to go "i understand, that sucks"

2. Sunshine. It really does help you immensely. 30 minutes a day at least outside.

3. Execise helps, but i never do that, im already skinny

4. Every once in awhile ill take a step back and ask myself am i depressed? whats bothering me? then if its something specific i plan out how i could change it

I;ve had clinical depression for 7 years now, and diagnosed with BPD 2 years ago. Everyone kind of knew because it was obvious, I was like a light switch. I would wake up, go to school, go to bed, wake up for an hour and go back to bed. I missed more than half my classes one semester, complaining of pains.

You would be surprised depression is more common than you think, 1 in 3 people will be depressed in their lives. Do not be afraid to ask for support before it gets out of hand. I didn't end up asking for help, my mother made me get help when she got a call from the police stating I was in the hospital for alcohol poisoning. I was in such a dark place, no one mattered, not even me... That is what happened when I tried to face it on my own, drown my thoughts with alcohol and drugs. Better to ask for help in the first place. Talk to a school councellor, or your doctor.

yes but i wish i hadn't. if id gotten help, i wouldn't be as messed up now as i am. don't hide it. it makes it worse. the final piece for me was an attempted suicide. everyone knew after that. GO GET HELP
