Suffering from depression, and having mental breakdowns?!

Question: Suffering from depression, and having mental breakdowns?
I have been suffering from depression for many years now, and have had a lot of mental breakdowns. I stopped having them as much though, and thought I was getting better. Recently they've been coming back though, and I find my self having mental/emotional break downs at least once a day. This is really starting to have a big effect on my life, and is exhausting me. I am seeing a psychiatrist, but it doesn't seem to be helping very much. Does anyone have any advice on how I can handle these mental breakdowns? I need to start going to school again, but have been too exhausted to go. Any advice will help.

Answers:

firstly, ask yourself: Why am I upset?
secondly, if you can fix it

"Life is too short"

I totally disagree with the quote above although life is too short to have mental break downs. I have myself experianced several depressing situations but instead of focusing on the negative things in your life, start concentrating on all the positive things you have!

When I am upset, I'd make a list: I am awesome because.........
Everytime you feel depress pull out that meaningful list and read through it. Who cares if the list makes you real stuck up? because EVERYONE is unique in every way. And by the sounds of things you deserve it!!

Remember:
-There is always someone worst off then you
-life's too short to be sad
-focus on the positive things
-NO problem is unique, at least one person is dealing with the same situation
-There is always someone who cares

Seriously...Get Happy <3

I know how you feel, because I'm suffering from it too. My therapist says to re-channel your mind, whenever a bad thought or memory or idea enters your mind that you know will depress you. Chat with your friends, see positive things in life, close your eyes, and take deep breaths as you count 10 to 1, relax, and keep yourself preoccupied.

Go back to school. Sitting around and doing nothing won't help keep your mind busy and you will go crazy. Visit the doctor. They could prescribe some medication which will regulate the chemicals in your brain. If anything traumatic has happened to you maybe a hypnotherapist could help.

Just keep your head cool take your medication think positive go out with friends talk to your family probobly things that are hard for you to do right now but baby steps if you don't feel like going back to school at the moment get a note don't be stressed just focus on getting better hope I helped good luck

This is going to be an unpopular answer in the medical community that weighs in here but I am giving you this because it works. And for the record, I am also part of the medical community, an RN with a clinical specialty in Mental health, and have been for 27 years.
One thing I have learned in my many years of practice is that Western medicine does not have all the answers and are entirely too focused on chemical remedies in the form of drugs.
There are several things that can help depression, anxiety and that "I'm losing it" feeling and they can help very, very fast. The first technique I am going to tell you about is referred to as EFT, or emotional Freedom technique. Some people call it tapping. It is based on 2 schools of thought/treatment and is actually a combination of Western and Eastern medicine. The Eastern part of it is based on the meridians in the body that are the sore of acupuncture. Our bodies are essentially composed of energy pathways and the premise behind acupuncture is that illness is caused by blockages of this energy at different points, causing areas beyond the blocked energy to get backed up, basically causing problems in those areas. Many Western physicians have now conceded that there is a great deal of merit to this and have become more accepting of it.
The other component, the Western component, is psychology and basically the CONCEPT of self talk and the messages we give ourselves that contribute heavily to the negative perceptions we have of ourselves, poor self esteem, etc.
EFT is a method of identifying what the issue is, saying a set up statement acknowledging the problem but stating to ourselves that we will not judge ourselves for that issue. The and tapping on several key meridian points or major energy "crossroads" in order to release any blocks that are there. The taping is done in a specific order while repeating statements abut what th experience we are having issues with, drilling down ultimately, to the core problem.
I cannot explain why or how this works but I can tell you that is does indeed work and incredibly fast.l I have seen it work with clients, have attended many trainings on it and have used it myself for many years.
There is a more streamlined version of it and it is somewhat easier to use and to begin with. It is called Faster EFT and was developed by a man named Robert Smith.
He has a channel on You Tube called The Healing Magic. i encourage you to go take a look at some of the videos. There are over 300 of them. He explains the premise, the method, and there are many, many demonstrations on the videos. People just like you and just like me who are relieving themselves of issues, physical and emotional, that in some cases have been lifelong issues. And they do it in a matter of minutes.
There are also great benefits that you can get from a really good clinical hypnotherapist. There is a website called Wendi.com with some wonderful programs for all kinds of things, depression and anxiety among them. They're reasonably priced the therapist who owns the site and does the hypnosis downloads and cds, is well respected in her field and is just a very good, ethical person.
The way hypnosis works is that it bypasses the conscious mind, which is our gatekeeper, and gets right into the subconscious mind. This is where almost all of our self sabotage, false and limiting beliefs, poor self esteem, etc live and breed. From the moment we have hearing, we are being programmed by whatever we hear and much of what we hear is not good for us.
One thing I would liek yolike know is that out thoguththoughtsr feelings are very much connected to what is going on in our bodies and that includes the neurotransmitters in our brains, like serotonin, dopamine, norepinepinephrinehat all contribute to mood disorders. What Western medicine does not incorporate in treatment is that connectconnectionad of working on changing the feelings and the beliefs, they like to tweak the chemicals with chemicals.
I encourage you to look at both but I strongly suggest that you look at Faster EFT now. It's always there, you can get started in a matte rof minutes after you read this reply.
One more thing about EFT and hypnosdhypnosisevebelievingill work is not necessary. just try them. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
good lucj anluck well.
