I need to tell my Calc. teacher that I'm not taking the AP test; how should!

Question: I need to tell my Calc. teacher that I'm not taking the AP test; how should I do it?
What makes it hard is that I have straight A's, but cannot adequately prepare for four AP tests. Math is my weakest subject (panic attack on every test) and do not think that I will be able to pass. How should I say this? He wants to know as soon as possible who is not going to take the exam. I just don't want to sound like I am whining or be questioned. Please help! Thanks.

Answers:

I have been in your position and its a drag to tell a teacher this.
You should explain to him that you don't feel comfortable with your math skills and that the AP test isn't for you. He should be able to understand your situation, hopefully. I had to do this last year and my teacher reassured me that I would do well but I explained to her that I just didn't feel confident in my math skills and was uncomfortable with it. She understood and wasn't disappointed in my decision.
Hopefully this helps.
