I see my psychiatrist tomorrow and I feel as if I am having a breakdown .. Shoul!

Question: I see my psychiatrist tomorrow and I feel as if I am having a breakdown .. Should I cancel the Appt ?
I have an appointment with my psychiatrist tomorrow at 3 PM and I am losing it. I am so tired and overwhelmed and it's too much. I've only seen her twice and the last time was in october and I don't know what to say to her. I'm at my wits end..

What do I tell her ? I just can't take it anymore. I just want to lay down and die

Should I cancel the appt and just not waste her time ? I feel like such a waste

Answers:

Whatever you do, do not cancel the appointment. If you're really feeling like you're losing it, then a trip to the psychiatrist will help you feel better and help to resolve those issues. Just tell her what you wrote here. Tell her what you're feeling lately. She is there to help you. You are NOT a waste.

Feeling(mental illness) is one thing that's causing the indecision to see the psychiatrist. Logical thinking which you want because that's making a right decision is to see the psychiatrist so you can get the assistance that's needed, now. Don't let the mental illness emotions win, say the heck with your I'm outta here full force to see the doctor so you can get better. I truly think you want to get yourself some help and will.

"You can get to living or get to dying"

You have already formed the words that the psychiatrist can help you with the most.

"I just can't take this anymore. I just want to lay down and die...I feel like such a waste"

This is a psychiatrist's specialty - to deal with people who have this problem.
Don't cancel.
Go to your appointment.

It's the people who "get real" with their psychiatrist or counselor who are the most helped by them.

Just go. To be honest, if you're feeling that down, could a trip there really do any harm?

The whole reason the field of psychiatry exists is so that they can help people deal with those feelings.

Things will only get better, you just have to look for the positives! :D

yes, cancel, have a beer and get laid
