Is this considered "anorexia"?!

Question: Is this considered "anorexia"?
For a while now all I have been eating in a day is toast in the morning, a cup of coffee for lunch, and a cup of coffee for supper. I do this on purpose to lose weight and in a way it does feel kind of good that I'm able to keep myself from giving in when my stomach growlsand eating something.

I was diagnosed with Bulimia a while back and I've recently stopped going to therapy for it. It was getting to the point where my gag reflex was almost nonexistent so I figured I'd eat as little as possible so I wouldn't feel as bad when I couldn't purge. My mom has expressed her concerns and has thrown the word "anorexia" at me a few times, but is it really that severe?

Answers:

Quite possibly, yes. A diagnosis of anorexia can only be made if the behaviour has been continuous for a minimum of 3-4 months but yes, this behavious is definitely concerning, especially since you've already been suffering from bulimia. It may also be part of your bulimia too - many bulimics do restrict and starve before falling back into a B/P cycle.

Yes, that is anorexia. And yes, it is serious. You are not getting any nutrition, just caffeine and sugar, caffeine leaches calcium from your bones, and your not getting any calcium in your diet, among lots of other healthy and important nutrients. Your body will start breaking down protein in your body, basically eating itself.

I don't think it's that severe. You don't over exercise yourself. But, I would see a doctor for your under eating.

My friend had it.
