I may be bipolar, but I am having an episode here. Could there be light at the e!

Question: I may be bipolar, but I am having an episode here. Could there be light at the end of the tunnel?
Is my life a cancer? I am 29 and even though I am 5 courses away from graduating with an associates degree in criminal justice which I put on hold for now and am pursuing personal training, could there be any success in life at all? I don't want to work for our corrupt government but will get the degree since I come this far. It took me a long time since MATH was never my strong point. All day when I don;t have class, I realize what a waste of life I am. I wait till I have to go to my part time job. I live at home because I make peanuts. I work hard though. I am unskilled too. Tried to back in the day. I'm a trier.

I feel I am hanging on too hard to a possiblillity when during the Christmas holiday, I mentally waved, "Bye-bye Pop Pop" to my hopes and dreams since it seems like nothing will work. Could it work? Will this country ever get back on track? I am not selfish and CARE about things that might not neccessarily affect me such as the 3 strikes law. I think that is an evil law. Also, some 20 year old medical marijuana user is facing life for being caught in Texas. LIFE!!!! How is that justified? Because it says so on paper? Hitler said it was bad to be Jew back in the day as well. I guess that was fine to stick your neighbor in an oven and watch him cook.

I care about things and want to fight the injustices of not only my country, but my world. This is OUR world. Not my country, your country. OUR world.

Answers:

It does not sound like you are bipolar, it just sounds like you care about people and are a really good person, And you are defiantly not a waste of a life, and things will get better.. =)

What the hell does any of that have to do with Biopolar DIsorder?

I get upset about these same political issues that you are upset about, but you have to keep it in perspective - the media are worldwide now and are looking for extreme examples of injustice because it helps their ratings. In looking thru almost 7 billion people, they will find some real horror stories. Just in the US there are over 300 million people. Most people have more minor injustices, like someone stole their car radio or the credit card company ripped them off. The best way to protect against these things is to be informed - I get consumer reports, consumer reports money magazine, and other things to read to keep up on the latest rip offs. I lock my car doors every time I leave the car. If something is too good to be true, it's a scam.

I voted against the 3 strikes law when it came up in CA years ago. So I'm with you on that. States are getting tired of paying $20,000 a year per prisoner though, so now they are looking at prison alternatives more. So this problem will probably get better.

I think you could benefit from counseling - it seems that you may have what are called "distortions" in thinking that are making you miserable. I have them too - my problem is that I only think I am a good person if I work, and I am disabled, so I hate myself. I struggle and struggle with that. There is a free computer program called "moodgym" that might help you -there are tests for "warpy thinking" and it will teach you cognitive behavioral therapy. You have to do the homework to get the benefit. It's kinda fun and kinda dorky. Anyhow, give that a try.

Volunteering may help you feel better about yourself. I donate produce that i grow to the foodshelf, and in that small way I can help with some of the injustices in life.
