Can you take pain medication with prozac?!

Question: Can you take pain medication with prozac?
can i take ibuprofen or tylenol or advil etc. does it matter what kind of pain reliever it is, like acetaminophen. im not talking about opiates or anything like that.

also, if youve ever taken prozac, what was your experience on it? thanks in advance

Answers:

yup, any otc pain med is fine, as long as you're not allergic to aspirin or anything like that.

They say Prozac makes you more energetic and improves concentration, but none of that's happened to me. I did notice that my quality of live improved greatly though.

I will warn you though, make sure you take Prozac on a regular basis and try not to skip doses. I would forget to take it for weeks and then start taking it again--- don't do this, it gives you crazy mood swings.

~~~~edit~~~
In response to garden... (i'm sorry I forgot your name ) everyone is different and will respond differently to disorders and medication. Anti-depressants and either work very well, not work at all or even make things worse. A good doctor (in this case you'd want a psychiatrist) will closely monitor patients who are starting a new medication for side effects (as some of them can be very serious). Also, a combination of medicine and therapy is more effective than either by itself.
Your treatment will only be as good as your doctor is so make sure your psychiatrist is someone who you can trust and not a quack.
To be sure, call the pharmacist. I think it's ok, though.
keep track of your moods over a period of time. A lot of recent research has come out showing that the drug companies jiggered their data to make it LOOK as if antidepressants work, but in fact, they are no better than a sugar pill. google Irving Kirsch for more on this, and his work has been confirmed by others since. Some websites and psychiatrists are distorting his research saying that antidepressants are effective for severe depression, but that is not what kirsch found. There was a statistical difference for those patients, but the help provided by antidepressants was so miniscule that in real life use, nobody could tell the difference. If you're an adult, you should know that your sex life is over on prozac, most likely. and if you take it long term, then want to stop later, you are likely to have withdrawal problems. But the doc will say that is your mental problems coming back, and you have to take the drug the rest of your life, marital problems don't matter.
In my case, I took it many years ago, and I got really really manic, and got kicked out of the geophysics PhD program I was in. i got much more disabled soon after that, and ended up on social security disability. My brother got a lot worse soon after taking prozac, and lost his career as a machinist. so we have nothing good to say about antidepressants, and we believe prozac actually caused or worsened our bipolar disorders.
the docs NEVER tell you about patients like my brother and me. They exist, though.
you should also know that on message boards where psychiatrists chit chat back and forth, they do say antidepressants don't work very well, and a lot of them will give them out as placebo, becuase what else can they do?(hmm, send them to a therapist? But then they will have fewer patients. . .) the other half of the doctors who post are appalled that these doctors will lie to patients.
therapy is much better in my opinion, and exercising, socializing, distracting yourself when you are brooding, using a light box in winter, etc. there's free therapy at Moodgym.org or .com, i forget which
