How do I cope with this deformity?!

Question: How do I cope with this deformity?
My cheek is constantly swollen and puffy. It brings my lips down to one side like I have palsy, it contorts the shape of my already weird nose, and makes me look like a chubby baby-face. I can't even talk to a girl that I find attractive, and if they even look at me, I hide it. I've become known as someone who only glances all of the time like a super-shy person or a creep. It's taken a huge chunk of whatever confidence I have, and the only way I got by in the first place was when by comparison, I thought it went away, but it has actually been on my face for months. How do I cope? I'm seeing doctors, but nothing is promising to make it go away. I'd be willing to do plastic surgery if it doesn't go away.

Answers:

I'm sorry you are having problems with it.

All I can tell you is to have hope. There are people out there that will accept you and not judge. It is so sad that so many people judge on appearances these days. Just learn to love yourself and screw the rest of the world. Once you love yourself then it will show and you will have confidence.

As for girls, once you find a good one, she will look past any flaws. I know that with my husband I have learned to accept what isn't "text book" perfect with him and love him for his other, incredible, traits.

Keep your head up :-)

Parental attitudes can affect how well children cope with their deformity and may result in them deciding not to have surgery later in life.

if someone cant except who you really are on the inside then **** em. you dont need ppl like that in your life. if your overweight i would lose some weight. you can join the track team to build confidence and meet ppl there, you dont need to be an athlete to join either (theres also no cut offs)! you can just do shot put. ask your doctor about anti inflammitory drugs to reduce swelling. and ask them what is causing it (like a disease) then research online what options you can do. if it is a tumor or a fatty tumor you can get it removed(if its a tumor you should get it removed). demand an x-ray to see through your cheek. maybe they will find an answer.
