What psychological problem is this?!

Question: What psychological problem is this?
Hi, I'm writing a book about a girl and she has a mental health disorder and theres so many different types of psychological problem, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what type of psychological problem a person like this would fall under -
Believing things have happened that haven't e.i they were in a relationship with someone which never happened, or believing they were friends with someone they werent and seeing memories with them.

If you could help I'd be really greatful. Thank you.

Answers:

Few possibilities; it depends mostly on whether she actually sees herself experiencing these things or if she only has the memories.

Having memories of something that didn't actually occur is called confabulation. The causes of it are still debatable. There are a few neurological disorders, one of them being Korsakoff's syndrome, but that has a whole spiel of other symptoms which might make your life difficult. It's been suggested that confabulation can occur not as a result of any specific disorder but just from the way the brain functions; the person essentially believes that anything that occurs to them can be taken as truth and they are unable to cross-check their beliefs with reality.

If she actually sees the events occurring, that would be a hallucination. Any number of things can cause hallucinations; drugs and alcohol, withdrawal, and psychiatric disorders namely schizophrenia.
