Is this how everyone really feels?!

Question: Is this how everyone really feels?
I hate living. Everyday is worse than the day before for me. I don't like being around people because in the end they all have turned their backs on me and betrayed my trust. I've never fit in. The only reason I'm still living is because my parents would die if I killed myself. Once they go, I'm out. I don't see how anyone enjoys life, or why anyone would want to bring a child into this miserable world. I think people just live because they are afraid of death. I'm not, it can't be worse this. I've felt like this for as long as I can remember. Is there anyone who feels the same way?

Answers:

I used to feel like that a lot, and still do sometimes. I have clinical depression. Things started to improve when I began taking Prozac, but also, I think this feeling is (partially) something you grow out of. If you spend more time focussing on how you affect other people, rather than how they affect you, you will feel better. This comes with growing up, as well as practise. Nobody is born with a 'purpose' in life, but if you make yourself useful, then you will feel more like you have a reason to stick around in the land of the living. Also, you say your parents would die if you killed yourself: that's true, and that's because YOU are their reason to live. You have a loving family; why can't you live for them at least, until you find more reasons to live on top of that?

There are plenty of people who feel like you. It sounds like depression. Its nothing to panic about but you should try and talk to someone. I don't know how old you are but both schools and colleges generally offer a counseling programme or a doctor can refer you onto someone who can help. The best thing you can do for yourself is get some help before it spirals out of control. Read up about depression and both you and your doctor can work out a plan of how to treat this together. As I said, its nothing to panic about, its an extremely common illness and these days there are plenty of effective treatments for it. Good luck!

People live because they're afraid of death? What a bunch of BS. It can't be worse than this? Imagine being in the Halocaust. The very fact that you can use a freaking computer makes you better off than poor people in 3rd world countries who would do anything to be able to have a nice place to sleep at night, and have plenty of food and water. Take things from a different perspective and get off your lousy pity-pot.

i feel like that, not all the time but there are days when i feel i cant go on, i've been there. things will get better.

Don't kill yourself, bro. I've been there too. I know it's hard dealing with insensitivity. I hate living in the city too. Just move to a more country setting. The downside is that all the women are already married and the grocery store is miles away, but don't worry about any woman or a grocery store. You can farm food and you can plow the Earth with your fingernails for food -- and perhaps a wheel-hoe. You're better off without one if you can get by all right. The country life's the life for me and I've been living in the city based on my parent's lousy advice. I'm telling you, the country is where to find peace of mind and plenty of friendly people. Cheer up; there's a whole other world one state away from where you currently live.
