Question: How to get out of depression...?
How do you get out of depression? I like running a lot but I hate doing the treadmill and there are no places to run in Vegas (the part where I live) school is very boring and is the main cause of my depression. Also please don't hate me for this but it is also church. I hate it and I really don't believe in God. But I got punished and told I was a bad person for that. And now I just feel tired all the time. And my friend is sad from her being dumped and she doesn't cheer me up. (my only REAL friend). So what should or can I do besides see a doctor, counselor, or any professional?

If you could, take some times off to relax and rest. That's great that you like running. Exercise does help the mood. But it sucks you can't run around as much at where you live. Maybe you could get away for like a camping trip so you can run around?

You can also stop going to church completely. Just because you don't believe in god, it doesn't mean you are a bad person. They are wrong about you.

I know it's so easy to dwell on bad things. But try to do things you enjoy.



If you make up your mind that you really want to get out of depression , take the first step towards changing the way you look at things. There isn't anybody out there who can wave a magic wand at you and suddenly your depression is gone. Feeling happy and nice personalities come from inside a person's spirit. Secondly, train yourself to stop complaining, and let the sunshine in!

You did not say anything about the nature of your depression (unipolar, bipolar, cycling with season or daytime) and you I have no idea what may have caused depression and what is keeping your depression alive. You mentioned a few social stressors which are bothering you but I have doubts about the ability to cause a real clinical depression. There are millions of atheists but they are not depressed. Being punished for option for no religion is a different thing.It will destroy the family sooner or later.
