Is it bad to want a mental disorder?!

Question: Is it bad to want a mental disorder?
I've always wanted one. No because I want attention or anything, but maybe people would leave me alone. I'm so friendly and nice, but I really don't like people. I much prefer to be on my own.

Answers:

I don't think it's too unusual. I'm always envious when I see a schizo bum out on the streets. They have no obligations and no responsibilities. Their lives are so simple. All of their belongings fit in one shopping cart. They have absolute freedom. Standing by the road with their underwear outside their pants, they don't give a damn what anyone thinks.

Wanting a mental disorder to explain your differences may mean you have a psychiatric disorder.

Don't worry, it isn't as bad as it sounds, but you may have a disorder in the autistic spectrum (like Asperger's Syndrome or PDD-NOS). The diagnosis doesn't do anything more than describe your personality, but it may be a way for you to explain your oddities to your friends.

OMG. I have been feeling like this recently. I almost want to have a reason for my mind to be ****** up. I feel like I am ****** up in some ways, but I really don't want to go to a therapist. I want to be a doctor in a psychiatric facility so I can spend every day with them, and just BE with them. They seem like even though they're insane they have some greater outlook on life or something. I don't even know what I'm saying.

I watched the move "It's actually kind of a funny story" tonight, and seeing the kid experience living in the facility was soo interesting.

I feel like I want to be alone a lot too, but it's much better not to have a mental disorder. If you want people to leave you alone you could just act busy by reading a book or something or of course you could tell them that you want to be alone :P But if you had a mental disorder, you would definitely regret it.

Not bad, but a little crazy. You don't want a mental disorder because it really ruins your life. You can't focus on anything without being paranoid or other.

Sometimes I feel the same, but it's pretty bad to want yourself slightly impaired just to keep pricks away.

Haha. If you had one, tons of people would come to your aid so I dont think that'd help either lol

pretty damn strange. id say you already have one
