How has the recession affected you?!

Question: How has the recession affected you?
We've all been affected one way or another by the recession. Some of us mildly, some of us seriously. For others, opportunities may have been squandered or plans delayed. So I ask how have you been affected?

For me, well my entire outlook on life has changed, to a much more pessimistic one. I continue to work in KFC after graduating from uni and i'm forced to do unpaid work experience for a number of years, before i finally get a graduate (paid) job. As a result of this lack of earnings, i'll probably be living in my parents house for many more years to come.

What about you?

Answers:

I'm a newly 19 year old, so I'm just starting out in the world, and since I'm new, it hasn't affected me that much. Mostly with gas prices getting higher, and school text books are extremely expensive, even if they're used. In high school, there were many teachers who were laid off, and classes closed, and others were filled to the brim where kids were sitting on file cabinets. Tax is also higher than I remember it being a few years ago, so buying things I need takes more money.

I'm sure if I lived on my own, I'd have more to complain about but it hasn't really affected me much as it would an independent adult.

to be honest... it personally hasn't affected me much... it did last year. my gf and i were desperate... relying on people to help us. my boss fired me for mental health issues. i had life insurance and tpd insurance through my super. so i got a pay out. so things have been okay since about sept of last year. i'm extremely thankful though... and we give and help out at charities.
