Any cure for homesickness?!

Question: Any cure for homesickness?
So I'm going to a camp in two weeks and whenever I go to a camp, I cry
It normally happens at night, when I see everybody around me and notice that I won't be going back, I just keep crying until I sleep or have no more tears... Its like your close relative just passed away, immense heartache and its scary too
Any way to cure homesickness? It's really embarrassing and I do not ever want to experience that ever again :\

Answers:

I know it is hard to be away from home... I have been in college for 3 years now and the first year was very hard, learning how to be away from the family. One of the things that prepared me for it though was when I was living at home during middle school and high school I would try to spend nights away with friends. Having those small times away from the family got me used to not depending on being around them all the time or worrying about the family. So try and get more nights out with friends and spending nights at their places.

As for going to camps, please don't stop doing that...those are great experience and a lot of fun! When you start feeling down at a camp about family, get up and get moving! This will help keep your mind of things. Find a group of people, even if you don't know them, and start talking and playing games. Sitting by yourself and looking out on everyone else will make you feel isolated and alone and miss the family even more. It is tough, yes, to get up after you get into a mood but you are going to have to learn to force yourself to get into those situations. You will find that it will eventually take your mind of things and you will start having fun!

Don't worry about it, it takes time to get over homesickness. Just find some goods friends and have a good time :) Your mind will adjust eventually (there is no instant cure)

Here's some things that can help
If you can, ask if you can call your family, when I was at camp and felt homesick the voice of my mom always calmed me down.
Camp is a great way to get a little bit more independent, so try to think of it as a experience and enjoy it to.
Get your mind off being homesick, like talk to some friends, do camp stuff, and if it's at night then say to yourself "Im not going to cry, im not going to cry", take a deep breath, and try to go to sleep.
You can also talk to others about being homesick, im sure that your not the only one feeling this way, and knowing that your not the only one, it'll make you feel a lot better.
Do you have a annoying sibling or anything along those lines? Well think of it as a 'small' break from them :).
Hugging a pillow can help at night, helps you feel comfort.
Im sure you can make it. Hope this helped.

Went to camp.

Take a mobile phone with you, call your family or whoever, take a small object that reminds you of your family nothing valuable just something unusual like a favorite spoon or cup or whatever, not photos if you see photos you will probably want to go home again.
take comfort foods like chocolate, or ask a family member to bake you something and that will remind you of them,
