I'm 18 years of age and I started just university. I have had many dark years of Depression and Anxiety Paranoia.
I get worried and very paranoid that people don't like me, people hate me and even judge me all the time.
I have has many sleepless nights thinking about so much stuff that I know are not true.

aw. first of all noone has been through life without feeling depressed....positive. it happen to evryone. You should look yourself in the morror and point out evreything you like about yourself....keep an open mind.you shouldnt care what people think.. if they don;t like you woud you still like them? i used to be like that and i think alot but at the end of the ay you jut have to realise that thinking too much doesnt get you anywhere it just causes you harm n stress. think back to your dark years...do you want them to be the last?? well then forget your worries...if you cant do something..you cant, if you havnt got something ..you havnt. you are who you are and there i many people who want to be you. before yo do someing think abou tit working out great and you being very happy and i sre you...it will make a difference...ok? :) x

I would go to the uni health department and tell them that you have very low self esteem and would like to be counseled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. If they can't do it, try to get it outside the uni. Ask for a reference if they won't do it. CBT is proven to successfully treat depression and anxiety through improving your self image, your "self-talk" processes, mental fallacies, and learning to be kind and more realistic toward yourself. It vastly improves ones self esteem and helps you get rid of those nights worrying about stuff that is not true. In a sense, CBT gets rid of distortion and makes you a realist, one that is kind to you.

As a very last resort, buy some CBT books, especially ones with workbooks, and try it yourself. One on one counseling or group therapy is the best way to learn it. It takes time, work, and lots of practice.

You are a perfect candidate for CBT. Please do yourself a favor and give it a try. Best of luck to you!!
