Is my mom telling the truth or instilling fear in me?!

Question: Is my mom telling the truth or instilling fear in me?
Basically my family is incredibly abusive. My mom is mostly emotionally and verbally abusive, but it's so severe that you end up extremely depressed and suicidal. My brother and uncle are physically abusive, and just threaten and make your life a living hell. Now I really want to move out and my family knows this, so lately, and just generally throughout my life my mom has been saying how if I move out, I won't be able to support myself, I'll go bankrupt, life is expensive, this, that and honestly the fear of not being able to support myself has paralyzed me, and now I'm afraid to leave this messed up situation. So is my mom saying this, because it's genuinely like that, and she's able to see my future in a sense, or is she instilling that fear of me so I don't leave? Thanks.

Answers:

Yes, I believe that is what she is doing, you did say that she is emotionally and verbally abusive so that is what she is going to do to try and control you. Life is hard, along with finding a place and it will be hard at first but you can do it. And you'll be so much happier that you did or at least tried to get out.

Life is tough but there are places you can go to receive help. Foodstamps and welfare. Sometimes it feels weird to ask for help but if you are abused there are places that will help you get on your own two feet. There will always be people there for you and you should find one of these places and make a leap of faith.

Let me ask, how old are you? Honstly you need to get out. but you know, dont let what they say get to you. yes life on your own is rough, but its not that hard. theres many things and places out there to help you, in anyway you need
