Can people with bipolar ll disorder have mixed episodes, or just hypomanic and d!

Question: Can people with bipolar ll disorder have mixed episodes, or just hypomanic and depressive?
Answers:

Most doctors will put you in the Bipolar 1 catagory if you have mixed episodes....

You can have mixed episodes. The best thing if you have the bipolar disorder symptoms is to not focus on labels, focus on self help. There is a lot you can do to overcome bipolar disorder through self help. Too many people are searching for labels. No one fits a label perfectly. The labels are man-made and not actual separate diseases. They are tools used by doctors in a very inexact science that is subjective and not universally accepted (current medical model-oriented psychiatry).

I'm BP II, but suspected BP 1 cos I had a manic episode years ago, but mainly now just depressive ones. Yes, 2 and overlap with 1. There is no rule set for it. It's good to talk about it.
