The best thing to do is to get involved with life/other people. Many times when we feel depressed, we close off our family, friends and other people--and we 'isolate' ourselves and close out the rest of the world.
This actually feeds the depression. Although it may not feel good at the time, it would be better to get up, go outside, get some sun on your face, fresh air and exercise too. exercise releases endorphins in the body which are 'feel good' hormones. Plus it gets your mind off your troubles for a while. Sometimes just changing your surroundings and seeing other things, places and people can make you have a different outlook on things.
Also, don't bottle up your feelings. having a trusted friend, neighbor, teacher, sibling, relative, even a pet, to be a 'sounding board'. just someone to listen to what you have to say helps!

If it is interfering with your ability to get up and out of bed, you may want to talk with a counselor for some advice.
best wishes to you!

There's a difference between being sad (i.e. having the blues) and clinical depression. If you think you are clinically depressed, please seek professional help -- a psychologist, counselor, psychiatrist -- if you are sad I find that a good brisk walk in the mornings can help immensely, along with getting a good night's sleep and proper nutrition.

well, i've been researching a lot about depression. so heres something to think about to maybe motivate you without just demanding stuff like one of th e guys that responded. um know that life has its ups and downs. it is like the weather. sometimes its raining, sometimes its too hot, but other tiems its just right. the bad days are there so we can treasure the good days very much. also, there is a principle formula that is considered a ratio of 80/20. 80% of our days are spent in state that we sort of don't like and 20% is spent in a felt plus state where we feel good about what we are doing or not worring and stuff. also, if we stop feeling pain, we lose the ability to know when we are injured. likewise, we need to know when are down so we can meet those demands. i read this stuff somewhere and it motivated me for a bit. i sort of jsut scrambled it in to this messsage for u. hopefully u might find something u like.

Get your self on a schedule, right when your suppose to wake up get out of bed. Don't lay there not wanting to get out of bed. Eat healthy and lots of exercise will make you start feeling good and boost your confidence.
