what could be the cause of this?

Answers:

well if you are a teen, it could be harmones...
not enough sleep? make sure you get about 8 hours.
could be anemia. just tell ur doctor that you are always tired and they will test you for it, just a blood test.

Book an appointment with your doctor - this is VERY IMPORTANT

Have a look at these other symptoms of anemia and see if you match any of the others:

Anemia Symptoms
Because a low red blood cell count decreases oxygen delivery to every tissue in the body, anemia may cause a variety of signs and symptoms. It can also make almost any other underlying medical condition worse. If anemia is mild, it may not cause any symptoms. If anemia is slowly ongoing (chronic), the body may adapt and compensate for the change; in this case there may not be any symptoms until the anemia becomes more severe.

Symptoms of anemia may include the following:

?Fatigue
?decreased energy
?weakness
?shortness of breath
?lightheadedness
?palpitations (feeling of the heart racing or beating irregularly) 1
?looking pale

Symptoms of severe anemia may include:
?chest pain, angina, or heart attack
?dizziness
?fainting or passing out
?rapid heart rate

Some of the signs that may indicate anemia in an individual may include:

?Change in stool color, including black and tarry stools (sticky and foul smelling), maroon-colored, or visibly bloody stools if the anemia is due to blood loss through the gastrointestinal tract.
?rapid heart rate
?low blood pressure
?rapid breathing
?pale or cold skin
?yellow skin called jaundice if anemia is due to red blood cell breakdown
?heart murmur
?enlargement of the spleen with certain causes of anemia

Hope this helps :)

If you're anaemic, lack energy, have slight depression or mood swings and you're leaving your teens behind, get checked for a thyroid disorder. Try to have your GP run full spectrum tests on you, for your glucose, iron, thyroid, etc. You shouldn't ignore persistent sleepiness. Don't watch TV or use a computer nearer than one hour to bedtime, buy a Lumie lightbox http://www.lumie.com/ (these worked amazingly for me!) and get as much natural daylight as you feasibly can.

Not enough sleep or have difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep/ (Insomnia)
But Insomnia is usually an underlying problem of other things; stress, depression.
Or you may not be getting enough Iron in your diet and are anaemic.
Or have narcolepsy!

Me, myself and I

You can be anemic, but its always good to maintain a form of good health. So, taking vitamins regularly is good and also exercising helps your energy level. At 32 I started feeling more tired--so I joined the gym and started taking vitamins. It helped.

See your doctor and get a blood test, for anemia if you have that then the doctor will put you on a course of iron tablets

Experience with anemia

It could also be your thyroid. You could be either hypothyroid or hyperthyroid. Make an appointment to see your doctor.
