Has the personal computer & cell phone affected interpersonal social skills !
Question: Has the personal computer & cell phone affected interpersonal social skills for better or worse?
Answers:
When people lost eye contact in their talking it became much easier to lie or get snarky with each other. Then when even the voice was gone much of the personality in their interactions was gone.
Computers, cell phones and other communication devices allow us to be connected with others on an instant basis instead of waiting to be face to face with them to communicate.
However, with anything that isn't face-to-face, there can be a problem with interpersonal communications. And nothing takes the place of in person communication for human beings.
For some people worse, but on the other hand, it really doesn't affect some other people. I know a few people who can hardly hold a conversation face to face, but text 500 messages a day. I also know some people who text and talk F2F an equal amount, so they're pretty good at both or better at F2F. I also know some people who are great at F2F chats and text a lot. It really just depends on how much you talk face to face in addition to texting and IMing.
