What should I do about my depression?!

Question: What should I do about my depression?
I am 20 years old and I am in the national guard. I have been fighting depression in and off for almost 6 years now. Not a whole lot of people know about it because I don't like people knowing about it. But I'm getting really tired of fighting it by myself.

It comes for months at a time and disappears for a few weeks only to come back again.

When I'm depressed I feel alone, worthless, sad (but I can't cry no matter how hard I try), and angry. I get so angry with myself over the dumbest things and all I want to do is yell as loud as I can.

So should I try to find a doctor who can prescribe me something or should I seek therapy? Would my military insurance cover it?

Please help me.

Answers:

Definitely see a psychologist and get antidepressants. My mom is in the military and they covered her (and mine) shrink visits. You will amazed at the difference when you get help.

Yeah dude go to a doctor. If you have health insurance it will be covered. They will get you some medicine that will help you out and you can feel happy again.

You should see a psychiatrist. I suffer from depression which also causes anger. It's not good to have that rage inside you. Antidepressants can really help if you find the right one. Stay away from alcohol too.

See an M.D

Its a proven fact that you cant you cant stay upset while tilting your head up and stareing.at the bright blue sky. Also try smiling and say ! Yes I can. this can be quite empowering. Also go to the beach and.take in some.waves. the ebb and flow of the ocean waters take out all your negitave.Ions as does petting your dog or pet, so careing for g pet helps. Remember Stay foucsed on positive things increases your ability no deal well with crap. I bet serving with other men felt great. Even marching or running gives your mind a.break from stress.. Try these things. If you dont get better, there may be a self - esteem Issue. Dont take medication because it just.masks the problem and people become dependent on them. For serious issues and If those things dont help. Seek out a mentor. Peace.
