can this do anything to your mental health?!

Question: Can this do anything to your mental health?
so. i know i might be about to get talked down upon.. but a secret ive kept to just myself all these years, oddly enough, hasbeen to look at like.. crime scene photos.. of car wrecks, and sometimes murder cases... like.. the two people that ive told, which one includes my brother, said that maybe if i can handle those, then i should maybe look into being like a crime scene investigator... because not many people can handle looking at stuff like that.

and now i dont look at those as much anymore, but i still do. but i guess my question is, is does it do anything to your mental health? i mean, i dont think it has to me.. and i know its wrong to look into those, and i actually might look into being a crime scene investigator. but yeah...

thanks i suppose... :S

Answers:

yes, everything we see and hear effects out mental health, if only to desensitize us. when you were 4 and someone said a cuss word you thought it was a big deal, not so much any more. when you were 10 and you saw a scary movie you were really frightened, now its really no big deal and may even be fun. its because your sensitivity to those events has decreased. but as far as those photos making you a sociopath? not very likely. it may just be prepping you for a career in medicine like surgery, or paramedic or birthing room (yuck) or perhaps even crime photography if you have a general interest in photography.

Things like that CAN have a toll on your mental and emotional health, but if you think it's something you might be good at, go for it.

As for looking at crime scene photos in your spare time, that can be harmful to you depending on why you look at them. I don't really know that whole situation, but from what you're saying I don't think it's a problem. But I think you're brother is right about using that strength for constructive purposes.

ok? many people are like that. Means your mind is more tolerable of images not considered comfortable to others.
