How can i calm my nerves before an oral presentation?!

Question: How can i calm my nerves before an oral presentation?
i have a skit to do for my italian class a couple days from now, and i am extremely nervous. what's worse is that i can hardly speak italian, so my pronunciation, grammar, etc might be wrong. i'm kinda shy and every time i had to do a presentation/skit before i was really nervous. but after i get it over with, i just feel so relieved. so how can i not be nervous before this skit?

any answers would be appreciated.

I remember in high school I had to do a play scene entirely in Spanish. I practiced my lines inside and out, I knew the English translations and everything. I thought I was set. Well, it turns out that I didn't do too well and it had nothing to do with pronunciation but everything to do with me forgetting my lines due to nerves and being so focused on how to say these words that I forgot the order I was saying them in.

I'm really shy and it's required to take Speech in the state I go to college in. I was terrified. I'm too shy to stand in front of 30 strangers who are there to specifically judge the way I'm speaking and what I'm speaking about. The first time I did it, I wanted to die and it was just standing in front of the class saying what your name was, what your intended major is, and one of your favorite quotes that you live by. I couldn't even handle that.

But I learned from that experience and by time I had my second speech, I showed them what I was made of. I realized everyone there was just as nervous, if not MORE nervous than I was, and that we were all there to learn how to give speeches appropriately. That class was set up to get rid of nerves and learn how to deliver speeches because one day, somewhere down the line, you'll have to speak publicly and it's best to mess up in a classroom than when you're giving your speech at the Academy Awards :)

So just remember that everyone in the class is learning Italian just as you are. That everyone is going to be fearful about their skits and how they pronounce things. You aren't alone and that was one of the biggest comforts I had. Take a deep breath, relax your nerves, speak slowly and audible, make eye contact, be brave, above all be brave, and I assure you, if you go in with confidence, your grade will reflect it whether you flub up the words and accidentally mispronounce something. I promise you.

Also, one thing I learned from being a teacher's assistant is that they grade easier on the top 5. If you are the first person to present a skit, they are more grade forgiving because you were brave and they have no one else to compare it to. Be the trail blazer, set the bar, get it over with as soon as you can, so for those other days that the skits are being presented, you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy. People may even come up to you and ask you how you were able to be so brave and fearless. Be fearless, always be fearless.

Good Luck!!!! :]

ok so i have done oral presentations allot of times so here are my tips :

1-practice HARD
2-just keep telling your self that you are the best in class
3-drink water or orange juice before its time for your oral presentation ''your mouth will get dry''

***there is a chance that you will forget the hole thing and will not be able to speak Italian so please """"practice"""""" & eat a light meal before you go o school and be confident dress very nice ;]
and dont look at the class it would be more comfortable looking at the teacher incited of the class
if you do want to look at the class ''try to look at the wall behind them its essayer that way
and in an oral presentation you should not read from your paper so try to leave it on the table and have a few peaces if needed so that your oral presentation will go smoothly
ask the teacher how you did after class to show them that you are concerned about your grade and that you worked hard for it

goooood luck :*

i did allot of oral presentations :)

I have the same problem, but when I start to get nervous i try to take a deep breath and forget about everybody in the room and just think they all have to present too, and most of them are probably just as nervous. And if you feel relieved when it's done, you might want to consider going first? if that's possible..well good luck!:)
