I don't want to be on meds anymore. Can I flush them down the toilet?!

Question: I don't want to be on meds anymore. Can I flush them down the toilet?
I'm on meds for depression. And I don't want to be on them anymore. I know i'm not ready to stop them. But I hate takeing meds. Will they flush down the toilet without it coming back up? I don't want my husband to know that I'm going to stop taking them.

Answers:

if you need to get rid of them, I don't know how to! But, here's the thing.

You can stop taking any medicine, but first you absolutely NEED to check with your doctor and make sure there's nothing special you need to do to prevent death! I'm on medicine that, I take 4 pills a day, and if I suddenly stopped it could kill me. What I would need to do if I needed to stop was take 3 pills for a week, then 2 for a week, then 1 for a week, then I can stop. I'm not saying this is the kind of thing you need to do, just that sometimes there are special precautions you have to take with suddenly stopping medication.

Ask your doctor and do whatever he says!

Personal experience, common sense

If you have excess meds, give them to the police. The police usually have "pill burnings". It's better for the environment, so it doesn't go into the water supply and so that they don't get sold on the black market.
