Do I have depression? If so, should I tell my parents?!

Question: Do I have depression? If so, should I tell my parents?
Took a test online and this is what it ended up looking like:

Do you feel sad or down most of the time?: Yes.

Have you lost interest in the activities you used to enjoy doing?: Yes.

Do you feel tired almost every day?: Yes.

Do you have problems sleeping? Either sleeping too much or staying awake at night: Yes.

Has your appetite changed? Either not eating enough, or eating too much?: Yes.

Do you have trouble concentrating?: Yes.

Have your friends said your acting different. Either anxious and restless or lethargic?: No.

Do you feel worthless or hopeless?: Yes.

Are you having frequent headaches, stomach problems, muscle pain, or back problems?: Yes.

Do you find yourself thinking a lot about dying?: No.

That was a yes to 8/10 questions, and my mom has depression so I'm afraid I have it too.
We don't have the money to go to the doctor to make sure, or get meds for it so I don't want to tell my mom because she'll go crazy spending money if she has the chance, and my dad would get really upset if we have to spend a lot more money :\

Do I have depression? If so, how bad is it? And should I tell my parents?!
Thanks.

Answers:

it all depends on you. if you have thoughts of suicide then yes tell your parents or a best friend.

How old are you? are you into sports or are you a nerd type. You could do something that you are interested in. Do you like reading? There is a reason you gave the answers that you did.
Set in a quite place and think about your life. Be honest with your self. I don't get the feeling that you are depressed. Perhaps you are just bored with your life stile. You have the power to change your viewpoint.

If it's affecting your life so much that you feel like you can't handle it or you start self mutilating or thinking of suicide, yes tell them!

Everyone is depressed. Usually people are depressed because they realize they have to grow up and leave part of themselves behind. Our media likes to play out depression as being a bad thing, but is a good thing because it helps you grow and become a better person. If you can't deal with life now as a teenager how are you going to deal with it as an adult? Learn to cope. Pick up a hobby. Do some meditation. Quit worrying about yourself and your problems and go help someone else. Most people sit around worrying about clean drinking water and we sit around and worry if we should get on prozac for depression? It's pathetic.
