Question: Depressed and scared?
around 5 weeks ago, i tried to comitt suicide. i took an overdose but was found by a mate and ended up in hospital for 3 days and 1 night in pyschiatric clinic. been going to a councelar once a week, was good to begin with but now disillusioned by it all. i am 28 years old male and basically cant stop crying all the time when im on my own. i live in germany and my whole family is back in the uk so its not as though i can pop round and have a chat. im scared incase i try do comitt suicide again because the thoughts keep coming back and back, i just cant seem to get out of this depression that im in and on the other side, dont want to keep annoying my friends here because they would soon get tired of things with me. i dont want to end up in clinic again but i am really scared incase i try to hurt myself again.

Answers:

Well if it's a choice of clinic or hurting yourself, take clinic.

If you can get counseling more than once a week, go. If not, look for local support groups, or even pastors you can talk to. There ARE resources out there, please find them.

The world needs you in it. You sound like a good guy. Whatever is wrong in your life, suicide ISNT the solution.

Here is your answer go home who cares what it costs and if theres nothine out there but family for you quit any job and go.

get active join a club sports find friends on the internet online gaming anthing that will make u enjoy life.

Hit the gym working out makes you have more self confidence and releases chemicals in your body that will make you feel good.

Go back to school try and find a job you would love to do and go for it no matter the cost.

Is there any way you can get home so that you can talk with your doctor and be in familiar surroundings? If not, you still need to talk to a doctor. They may have you go back to the clinic, but that might be the safest place at this time.

Please don't think of hurting yourself. Prayer can help you with this --- it's important to know God, your spiritual Father, then pray about your life. He can help you live a better life. God doesn't want you to hurt yourself, but to know and follow Him so you can have a good life. As God is love, life is primarily about love and relationships in order to have a rich and full life. Also, you need to know God's Son, Jesus Christ, in your life as your Lord and Savior as Jesus died on the cross as payment for our sins. Having Him with you will give you God's blessing and forgiveness, as you live God's way. We need to know and follow God in this life so we can go to heaven after we die, and so we can get God's help now. Not following God leads to hell, eternal suffering. Instead, there is an important prayer to pray to become a born again Christian. This prayer should be said with faith in God and a sincere heart:
"Dear God, I know that I am a sinful person and I don't want to be like this anymore. I know that Jesus Christ died on the cross as payment for our sins, and I want to accept Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever so I can receive God's forgiveness, guidance, and go to heaven after I die. Thank you, dear God, for your mercy and guidance; in Jesus' name. Amen."
After saying this prayer, you should check out a Christian church like Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran.
Also, get into their Bible study group so you can learn more about God, Jesus, and God's will for your life. The Bible is God's instruction book about how to live a God-honoring life so you can go to heaven after you die. The church can also get you baptized and prayed for. You can pray for yourself daily too. God guide your life.

What's your living situation? Are you in Germany for work? Can you take time off and go back to the U.K., if that would help? Are you eligible for healthcare under the German system? Can you try a different counselor, or maybe would a group setting be more helpful? One thing lay off any drugs or alcohol you may be using, that's often when people make further attempts (in an impulsive moment).

Of all the depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation is the one of greatest concern. No one can help you once you are dead.

Did anyone from the hospital of psychiatric hospital prescribe you and anti-depressant? If you've been taking it for about a month, you should start to feel the therapeutic benefits. If you aren't, it's way past time to talk to your doctor about your suicidal thoughts. Don't worry about being hospitalized again, that only happens when they don't trust you to work on the problems (or if you won't contract against self-harm).

The other thing that depression does is distort thinking. For example, it is your impression that friends don't want to be bothered by you, because you are currently a "sad sack". You have no way of knowing if that is their attitude, and most likely, it is not. Most people want to help, and would be highly distressed if you continue to make suicide attempts rather than ask for help. Give them a chance. You can ask them if you are a burden, check out your perception.
