Who has taken Lexapro? Is this normal?!

Question: Who has taken Lexapro? Is this normal?
Since I started having anxiety and mild depression I took lexapro for two weeks then doctor told me to stop, since it was only a temporary mood thing (I felt like A++ after a few days of the meds). But two weeks later the problems started again so I'm back on lexapro an felt great almost immediately, like before, but now two weeks later I'm sorta feeling some weirdness, like almost anxiety but its just tingly feeling on back of head and I get depressive feeling if I'm not socially interacting, the total OPPOSITE of before where my depressive feeling would go away as soon as I was alone for a while. Sure, I'm better off than before but is this part of adjusting to the meds? Will it smooth out?

Answers:

It takes an antidepressant like Lexapro from 4 to 6 weeks to reach it's "fully effective" level in your system - and a couple weeks or so before you even feel it beginning to work.

If you feel better right away, it's a "placebo effect". The feelings you're getting are likely what they call "break-in side effects" from the Lexapro. People typically get some form of a side effect when they begin taking an antidepressant. The symptoms vary from person to person - I have very bizarre and vivid dreams, that lasted a while then went away.

The good news is those side effects will go away eventually. Stick with the Lexapro, it's a good medication. Be careful, and don't let them put you on too high of a dose - try to stay on the lowest dose that works for you.

Best of luck to you =)

I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me.
