Is there any cure to insomnia?!

Question: Is there any cure to insomnia?
Answers:

Burn off your energy and take over the counter sleeping pills. Excedrin PM works great for me. When I really need to go to sleep and having problems, I chew up 2 and swallow a 3rd. Works good.

If you have medical insurance, Ambien has got to be the best sleeping pill ever.

Insomnia is not a disease, but a symptom. You should find the cause. By my experience, there are two kinds of insomnia:
A) You are not sleepy at all;
B) You are sleepy, but won't fall asleep.

Type A is the simplest one to solve, just search for sleep hygiene techniques, and they will do the job.

Type B is really a problem. This kind is caused by a phenomenon popular named "running mind" or "running thoughts", which is when your mind will not stop creating thoughts no matter how useless or non sense they are. Nonstop, what prevents you from sleeping.

Your mind can go running for many reasons, all of them related to intense mind usage. Some examples: intellectual problem solving, excessive worry, anxiety, or even, playing challenging video games for long periods before bed.

The problem is, in some people the mind can go running for days, what makes them crazy without sleep.

Unfortunately there is no magic spell that will slow down your mind. There are only a few techniques; all of them are based on the exercise of fulfilling with something else, but not your own thoughts. It comes from the fact that your mind will always be filled with something, at every moment – if you let it go freely, it can go running, and you know what happens.

The most popular technique is meditation. However, not everybody can do that, me for example. So you should try other things. One of them is to listen to music that you previously know and that is of your taste, specially songs that you can sing with – do that for hours if necessary, singing every word of the song.

Another thing, is reading. Read romances, especially those with detailed descriptions of places and people. Pay close attention to every detail, reread if necessary, and take your time on it - hours.
Another thing is to meet people. In other words, have lots of friends and talk to them for long periods of time.

A last possibility is attentive praying, that is, pray and pay attention to the words you are repeating. What sometimes is not easy, but it is also worth trying.

These things can help many people, as they did to me. The important thing is to insist and systematically fill your mind with things other than stupid thoughts.

Talking about drugs, all these stuff works better with benzodiazepines. However, they will not work for long time, and you might get addicted.

Hope have helped.

Sleeping pills tend to help, but no, there is no "cure". The only way to absolutely cure it is to treat the underlying condition, usually anxiety or depression.
