How is suicide the "most selfish thing a person can do"? Isn't ha!

Question: How is suicide the "most selfish thing a person can do"? Isn't having kids more selfish?
Answers:

I know what you mean. These losers have kids thinking that it will give meaning to their lives but then they find out that they're just as depressed with the kids than without the kids, only now there are kids who probably aren't getting the attention they need and in turn they become just as angry, depressed as the parents. The truth behind depression/mental illness is that your damned if you commit suicide and your damned if you don't commit suicide because it turns out that your completely unprepared for life. it's all so much fun and then to hear people call you selfish because you just want the nightmare to end. it makes me want to hit someone.

It really is selfish because you're only thinking about yourself when you attempt it. You don't think about your family, friends, or loved ones who are going to feel all of the affects of your suicide. You don't think about the medical bills you may leave with your family, the emotional dysfunction it will bring them, the heartache.. you're just thinking well i dont like my life so im going to kill myself, you're not thinking well i dont like myself but if i was gone it would hurt everyone so much more than im hurting now. Having children is unselfish because once that child comes into this world its not about you anymore, its about the kid.. and you devote your life to them 24/7.. its actually one of the most unselfish things a person can do.. and suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do.. there complete polar opposites.

mother, and suicide survivor.

I don't agree that suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do.
And I don't agree that having kids is more selfish.

I don't understand why you would think having kids is selfish, it's what we do, that's how the human race lives on if you want to get into the biology of the matter. Suicide, in my opinion, since I've been at the point of attempting many times, is the most selfish thing a person can do. It's selfish, in ways, but in different ways then saying "GIVE ME all the blah blah blah". At a point you need to think of yourself, and for people who have the mental illnesses like depression and anxiety, sometimes it looks like the only narrow path left is suicide. You're not thinking clearly when you're at that point.

Committing suicide leaves everyone who knows and loves you (family, friends, coworkers, even acquaintances) with the ramifications of your death. Suicide is done because one is unhappy with their life and they don't think about all the ways that their death could affect others. Having children isn't selfish unless you know you will have a child that will have inherited medical issues and you are just having a child because you want to.

Sucide is selfish because you are not only hurting yourself but also the people around you. People care about you and want you to live and not die. You are important to alot of people and are an enjoyment as well. There is stuff good about you you know. People want you around.

You really didn't think this out did you?
Suicide is selfish because by ending your pain you are causing pain to those who love you. Think about it, to satisfying yourself, you are hurting the people who love you with all their heart. it's not only selfish, it's sick.

No, suicide is killing yourself, for yourself. People care about you, and because you are selfish, you leave.
Having kids is giving to the world, and takes dedication.

Your wrong, 100% wrong.

I'm not sure how you work that out. The victims of suicide are the survivors. How do you see having kids as selfish? It requires a tremendous amount of constant sacrifice on behalf of the parents.

I think suicide is the most foolish thing a person can do. You loose all opportunities to change your mind.

It's not the most selfish thing a person can do . People just say that .

Both are true
