How should I deal with problem with co-worker?!

Question: How should I deal with problem with co-worker?
I just got a new job and the person who I am replacing is supposed to train me but is doing a terrible job. So far I smile and say thank you to him but once he leaves I will be so incompetent my boss will think he hired the wrong person. Should I tell the trainer I'm not happy with how he's teaching me, or should I go to my boss and complain and look like I can't handle it myself by addressing the trainer? I'm afraid the trainer will get upset either way.

Answers:

You must go through your chain of command no matter what kind of job it is, it looks better on you that you're not trying to over step someones authority. Right now the person you are replacing is in charge of you. So if you feel he/she is not teaching you right tell them that you are not understanding what they're trying to tell you and if they could either be more clear, if you can take notes, or something like that. Write down the time and date that you asked them this too. If after that he's still no help THEN you go to the boss and say hey look, on this date i asked him if he could be more clear with teaching me and its not working out. Can you please have someone else teach me instead?
