Do you think I am a 'Scrounger' for claiming Benefit's?!

Question: Do you think I am a 'Scrounger' for claiming Benefit's?
Hi there,

I will tell you the amount of money I generally receive and which Benefit I receive it from...

~~~PER WEEK~~~
Incapacity Benefit:- £94.25
Incapacit Benefit ('Age Addition'):- £13.80
Income Support ('Top-Up'):- £25.21
Disability Premium:- £28.85
Severe Disability Premium:- £55.30
Enhanced Disability Premium:- £14.05
Disability Living Allowance...
- (High Rate 'CARE'):- £73.60
- (High Rate 'MOBILITY'):- £51.40
Housing Benefit (FULL):- £55.63
Council Tax Exemption (Not Council Tax Benefit).
So many times I have over-heard neighbours saying I am taking 'Liberties' with the Benefit System. I don't 'Boast' about what I get. What is there to 'Boast' about? Anyone who knows anything about Benefits will know approximately what a person receives on those listed above.
Some people are so thick that they assume that if one is on Benefit's then they MUST some how be a Dole-Ite. You know.. that EVERY Benefit is in some such way merged into bloody Job Seekers Allowance.
It is a fact of life that many (and especially if they have children) get paid more on Benefit's than they do working. The advantages of having an Illness or Disabiity if you will. And again, I don't intend to sound like I am sounding off. I think MOST people, given the choice would rather lead a normal life and be able to work than live off of beadledom's aid.
All I meant was there are Pro's and Con's of a Disability. Obviously the draw-back is actually having the Disability in the first place. You have to make betterment in your life and by going on Benefit's that you are quite legitimately entitled to, will put you in a favourable and position by which you can be helpful to yourself. This is what I was trying to convey when I said that it's beneficial to have a Disability. One can't help this and you have to make the most of what you have. Indubitably, it would be far better not to have any detriment in the first place.
A lot of people cannot help being on Benefit's. Maybe they have no arms, have major Depression or have to care for another person. What the Hell are they supposed to do to support themselves? Fact is, it is too often assumed that people on Benefit's have NEVER worked. This can be said for (example) Chav's, Britains Dole fodder but not the majority of people, some of whom would never dream of taking a penny but times hit hard and call for desperate measures. Why shouldn't those that have paid into the system rely on it when they need it the most?
So my question to you is this... Do you think I, myself am one of the British 'J.S.A provenders' or a genuine case to be able to claim?
If you want to know why I am claiming these Benefit's I will make an 'Edit'. Just ask. No problem.
Many thanks.
To be honest, things will shortly get a lot harder for you. Incapacity benefit is being phased out (as you probably know), and those on it at the moment are gradually being moved onto ESA. And ESA is soon to become Universal Credit, where it will actually be merged into one with the likes of JSA. So what is at present a rant will soon become a reality. And you will receive a lot less money. I think at present the rate of ESA is just under a hundred pounds a week. So my point is, you should be prepared for the fact that you will soon lose about fifty quid a week from your income.
I have read some of your other posts and, tbh, I feel you do need to be on benefit. I think that anyone with your issues would struggle hugely at work, and the most important thing will be for you to be safe. So don't worry about what other people think; it is your business and your business alone. Other people will feel strongly about it; the world is suffering a major economic downturn at the moment and people are really strugglng. So of course the idea of someone getting 'money for nothing' will really wind them up. So in order to avoid censure, you really need to be more discreet about your finances.
You have been assessed as needing benefit, probably by several different people, many of them health professionals. They made the decision, not you. So if someone has a problem and they voice off at you, tell them to complain to the DWP!
Take care, don't worry about it anymore. Life's too short. Living on benefit is not easy, it's actually blooming stressful. So tell them to butt out!
If you really feel that you are entitled to benefits, then why do you feel the need to ask the question? Or air the rant?
If you deserve the benefits, then so be it. You have nothing to justify, and no validation to seek from others.
Live.
Well rule one is never feel any guilt for being unwell !! Just look how many people from afar who milk the system ! Use the money to better yourself but don't take it for granted . If you are still uneasy give some to a charity !!!! take care.
to be honest you make it sound like any one claiming JSA is a scrounger when that is not the case
my head
Spend my taxes wisely.
No, I don't think you are a scrounger but:
My husband works a 40 hour week and has to walk two miles each way, leaving home a 05:15 each morning. For this he brings home less than £800 a month.
I cannot walk more than twenty yards without having to stop and rest, and I am almost deaf. I am deemed fit and therefore get no benefits. Last year I had heart surgery.
Our thirteen year old son suffers from Asperger's. He receives the lower rate of DLA, but as he is unable to leave the house on his own, this is nowhere near enough to allow him to attend clubs etc.
We have to use taxis etc as we cannot afford to run a car.
We do not smoke or drink, or go out for meals. We did go on a trip last year, 150 miles from home, for three days. Our first trip away for over seven years.
Because we own our home we don't get housing benefit. We still have to pay full council tax.
Fair?
