How do suicide hotlines trace your call to send the police or ambulance to you?!

Question: How do suicide hotlines trace your call to send the police or ambulance to you?
I know that when you call a hotline, they most likely have caller ID.. But caller ID doesn't give someone your name and adress.. so how do they trace your call and send help to you.. Do they call 911, give them your phone number and 911 traces it, or what exactly do they do ?

Answers:

At the 911 centers, they have computer equipment that not only shows your phone number (like caller ID) but also your address. I'm not sure what they do with cell phones - it may show the registered address of the cell phone owner.

It's like the equipment the police have in their cars, they can enter your license plate and find the address your car is registered, and also your name and find if there are any outstanding warrents for you.

Ah, modern technology - is it a blessing or a curse =)
