Why do I catch myself very tense and sometimes not breathing when I'm think!

Question: Why do I catch myself very tense and sometimes not breathing when I'm thinking about past problems?
I dwell on things a LOT and I don't like it. I catch myself often and realized I literally stop breathing and get very tense. I was wondering if you could give me advice on stopping dwelling and what I should do when I feel myself tensing up. ALSO why do I replay EVERYDAY, in myhead, the bad/awkward things that happened in the past?

I use to do that when I was in high school or younger.
You just got to realize that you can't change the past so do what you can at the present for a better future.
Depending on what, just think that not many people will remember, usually only you.
For me I usually deal with embarrassing past as the past,
and if people laugh at me, I usually laugh along.
People make fun of others to put or shame others, but if you aren't phased then they give up!

When I think whether good or bad, my breathing often slow or sometimes seem like it stopped, I take a couple of deep breaths or walk a bit to get the blood flowing and loosen up.

It sounds like you are ruminating on problems, that is what started my Anxiety attacks around 6 months ago. See a doc and try to get CBT, it worked brilliantly for me, if not there are online resources too.
