Withdrawing from college for depression, what do I tell everyone?!

Question: Withdrawing from college for depression, what do I tell everyone?
I am a first year student withdrawing for one quarter because of my mental health. However, I don't really want to share this with the world. What can I tell my acquaintances as to why I'm leaving? For example, what else could "I'm sick" entail? What would "family issues" or "personal issues" entail?

Depression is a perfectly normal result of excessive stress. You have to be a dedicated hard worker ever to suffer this. Excess stress depletes the brain's synapse chemistry, causing it to shut down to a lower level of function for a while, until it can recover. This is when you get depression.
Just tell them you pushed yourself too hard & need to recover.
End.

i think there noting more stressfull then having have to tell anyone or answer to anyone ,cos you dont always know who your real freinds are,the friend that you care about can be the only one you tell ,just tell them what you wont them to know, "im having a studies leave, a little hoilday" or a studies leave to do some exploreing,"that it, and if they ask whatwhere, went, why, just say " i dont know yet,but i will keep in touch" just keep repeating these words, and leave it there, they dont kneed to know noting more. then you can get in touch with those who you feel are feel friends, that way you can find out who yours friends really are, and also you wont be leaving any gossips for anyone to talk about. i do hope this was helpful.

Honestly, when you're at college it isnt their job to get you in, to make you do your homework, thats high school. In college you have to do it pretty much alone, and so nobody would care if you dropped out or took a break because people do it all the time
You dont need a reason, just tell them your taking a break. If they ask why, say its personal, or that you just feel you need one :)

You don't have to go into detail at all. I had to leave a semestre for surgery, but you can tell someone who asks that you need to take care of some family issues and can't concentrate on that and school work at the same time.

People take breaks from college all the time. People won't care really. Just tell them you're taking a break. If they ask why, tell them you need a break.

Why? > "Medical reasons"
What's the problem? > "Not yours"

just say you had to have a break and did study whilst you were away because ive been threw what you have it'll be ok trust
