I can't be dyslexic because I get good grades, right?!

Question: I can't be dyslexic because I get good grades, right?
I try to avoid reading out loud. Partly because I am shy and partly because, well...
if I try and read something, specifically a paragraph of text, various, random words seem to draw my attention much more than the others which make it hard to read. Also, for some reason there seems to be a HUGE gap in between each word. It's almost as if the words are flashing randomly, if that makes sense.
I always assumed reading was like this for everyone. I have to work quickly to calm the sentence down and figure it out before reading it fluently. While I try to avoid reading out, I sound normal when I read (although I may stutter slightly). However, I have headaches once i've finished. If I am reading to myself, then I have to read it multiple times to take in the meaning. Also, I can write almost perfectly. It is READING that is the issue.
Is this normal? I have the best grades in my school. I am not trying to offend dyslexics, but I had always assumed... something bad.
Is it the same for you?

Answers:

Missing letters words and being drawn to different words on the page sounds like a perception disorder related to reading, a lexia disorder. It doesn't have to be dys..lexia.
Many types of brain circuitry issues exist.
You are doing well in school despite the issue. You have acknowledged the issue. Now, being as adept at getting about with the problem as you are, you can begin doing abit of research into the problem. It involves reading, but I know you are able to do it.
Headaches are from stressing your brain and eye muscles while making something broken work well.
Lots of tests and diagnostics would get pretty close to finding what the exact problem might be.
Perhaps your wandering eyes don't wait for your brain. You have noted that stuttering occurs. It may also be your brain in a hurry.
It isn't something bad, since you are doing well in dealing with it and having ways to master the problem. For sure, yes definitely things would be better without the extra expenditures of energy and brain power. It means you are more adaptive and clever than others, though.
I don't have reading problem that i know of. None of what you say happens to me.
My problem is my brain going so fast my fingers type like you say you read.

Very very untrue. You can be valedictorian of your class and still be dyslexic. It just depends how much effort you put into learning what you are reading, and there are dyslexic kids who don't put much effort as well as non-dyslexic kids. A smart student such as yourself should think about these factors to see if you can answer the question yourself =D

I can kinda relate to you. But it's not as bad so you might be a little bit dyslexic. I used to think I was dyslexic as well even though I was getting great grades in Maths. I sometimes stutter now when I read out loud but it's not as a bad case as you.

Get tested. Go to your consular and ask to take a reading test or what it is. I did that, and it turned out I did not some help. Worse case, nothing is wrong. It never hurts to check in case there is a bigger issue.

u might have a bit off dislexia
i would go chack it out, causre if u dont have it, there might b something alse wrong
and u dont have 2 have bad grades 2 be deslexic, u can b really smart

This doesn't necessarily mean you're dyslexic, plus, a lot of dyslexic people do very well in school, in fact, Einstein was dyslexic too, he was too good for words. I think you may just dislike reading. I'm like that. I hate reading out loud, although i can read very well, but because i don't want to, after i have read out loud i get head aches, i blush, and i just stutter or i cannot pronounce the words that i can if i was alone, or if i were reading to myself or a few mates. Dyslexia is nothing bad, it's absolutely fine, and it doesn't really limit you in any way, sure it can be a bit difficult, but not that bad, i have a dyslexic friend and she's amazing in every subject! All you need to do it, take a deep breath and read as if no one is listening to you, you just need some practice and you'll be fine, don't worry about it, i read things three times to fully understand it, well all learn differently, plus if you're doing well in your classes, you shouldn't fret over it. :)
