Can depression only be for a little while?!

Question: Can depression only be for a little while?
I was feeling pretty sad, or I guess "depressed" a little while ago. I was almost so upset I was starting to question my life. But after I listened to a couple songs that made me happy and making a list of things worth living for, I don't feel near as upset. My question is, can depression only last for a short period of time? Can it go away just like that?

Hi,
It depends how long you are in that state for and how many things that are causing you an issue. But you successfully dealt with your depression, so well done you! It is not as easy as that for others though and need help, either with medication or therapy or both.
The trick is to recognise when things are starting to spiral out of control and stop the rot before it gets too far. You did just that! That's something to feel proud and good about!

There are many types of depression - one kind which is fairly common amongst everyone is "situational depression" where you are not clinically depressed, but rather become depressed from a situation. This of course is not nearly as serious..
I would suggest to learn from any situation you've encountered that makes you feel depressed, and whenever it happens (as it likely will eventually) try to focus on things you CAN control rather than things you can't.

depression can vary between person to person in terms of how long it lasts and how you feel. generally the more depressed you come the harder it is to recover.

please talk to someone about how you are feeling, a family member, close friend or just anyone you can trust talking really can and does help.

never let a condition such as depression get to be a huge problem before seeking help.

I really hope you feel better very soon!

yes depression can be for a short time and could be for a long time, i was quite depressed because my ex moved to another country, so i know how it feels. Your at a very mild stage but it could get worse if you over-think.
What i did was, got my life together> started studying, got a job, hit the gym ( any sport is a good natural anti-depressant )

Plan your life out, DONT - let your mind be free and think, if you have free time, then watch feel good movies, motivation movies, comedies... it will cheer your up. you may want to avoid your friends for a while.
