How can I just accept that this event has happened and get over it?!

Question: How can I just accept that this event has happened and get over it?
okay, I heard of this happening some time ago on the news. It was about this one guy, and this nerd. (skinny guy, glasses, etc..) Anyway, the nerd either got fed up or went completely insane (from what was said) so he wrestled the other guy down to the ground, pinned him down, sat on his chest, wrapped his thighs tightly around his throat and squeezed the life out of him. This story really upset me because I can just imagine the agony the other guy was in as he was being killed..how much he panicked each time he tightened up more and more not being able to breathe, desperate to breathe again but not being able to do anything about it..I'll imagine being the guy who died and empathize with his final moments, suffocating, crying, his chest aching, blood coming out of his mouth from the pressure, knowing he'll never be able to escape and he's going to die, never be able to see his friends or family again and the excructiating pain he was in as his throat was being crushed :( I just can't get this out of my head..I keep imagining about how much that guy suffered. I could just imagine him being there, lying dead on the ground, his face blue, lifeless..now buried in his grave, gone forever, never going to raise a family or have kids.. I wish it never happened.. how can I get over this and accept that this has happened?

Asking for the millionth time again I see.

Its unlikely that this poor guy suffered that badly. As soon as he became starved of oxygen, he would have passed out really quickly. It would have been like having an anaesthetic.
There is immense suffering in this world and none of it makes sense. All we can do is try to make the best of the time that we have and try to change the world one good deed at a time.
What helps me is a very strong belief that there is a greater plan, and that nothing lasts forever - not sadness, or pain, or death.

Try to move on from this. You cant help the poor guy who died but you can most definitely make a difference to all those out there who are still alive. I suspect that you will end up in a caring career of some kind. Help others and you will start to heal yourself. Good luck and remember that life is precious - and that includes yours!

Hearing about these kind of things is really depressing and it is really sad. Maybe in some way you feel some kind of connection to the guy who was killed? Either way, most people feel bad for a person like this for a moment, but then they move on. I'm guessing you suffer from anxiety. If this is still bothering you that much, you should definitely go to a psychiatrist.
