Do I have Depression?!

Question: Do I have Depression?
I'm 17 and for a long time I have felt like this. I told my parents once that I may have depression and all they said was it was hormones but it has got to a point where I end up crying a lot, I feel no good and lost my all my confidence, my grades have dropped as I find it hard to concentrate. I have also skipped classes and I fear I will end up being kicked out.
The littlest things irritate me. My friends have told me they feel like they are treading on ice with me because I overreact to just a little joke which was made.

My sleeping patterns have gotten pretty bad. I have trouble getting to sleep then when I do I have restless nights. I wake up usually at around 1:00pm when I can. I feel like I am of no worth and that my life will amount to nothing.
I steer clear of my parents and usually just isolate myself in my room when I can. My grandparents who I barely see came down for a week and I didn't speak to them at all. I couldn't bring myself to even leave my room to see them. I don't even know why I acted like that.

I have no motivation, it's hard enough for me to get up in the mornings. My grades have slipped and I feel like this all the time. I can cry at random times and when people ask it just makes it worse. It seems to be more than just hormones but I know my parents will deny it and say it is hormones.
I've looked it up and I seem to have more than half of the symptoms. I have never go to thoughts on suicide but I know I shouldn't be feeling like this all the time.

sounds like depression. I was that way when i was a teenager. I saw a therapist often, about once a week and that really helped. If your parents won't pay for it then you can go see a school counselor.
Go easy on your friends they are just there to help. Try not to isolate yourself, you need to be around people that care about you. They are just trying to help so don't push them away, you may regret it later.

Depression can feel like a physical disorder because you feel lethargic all the time, body aches and pain, change in sleep patterns and so on. But remember, all these physical symptoms are caused by depression and not the other way around.
