I suffer from depersonalization, anyone else out there with it that knows ways t!

Question: I suffer from depersonalization, anyone else out there with it that knows ways to combat it?
Since about age 14 I have experienced "depersonalization". It has gotten worse and worse. I have done a lot of research on the subject and have found ways to combat it. None of them have been long term though :/

any help?

My daughter doesn't have that diagnosis, but her diagnosis sometimes causes such unattachment. From what I can understand, it's connected to any triggers or stressors in your life. I do NOT mean to downplay this, so do NOT take it that way! The problem is, we ALL have to go through triggers and stressors in our lives, so it's impossible to avoid that situation.
I remember a couple of times in my life where I had what's called surreal moments. It is by no way the same thing, but it's almost a mini moment, if that makes sense.
I'm very concerned about you, so I decided to go online and see what I could find for you. Having a daughter with mental illness, I know how much it scares her and she wants to prevent it whenever possible. Here's what I found:
First, most episodes of depersonalization disorder can trace back to either a recent trauma (i.e. death, accident or recent injury) or more likely, a sign of unresolved abuse suffered during childhood or adolescence. This I can identify with in a big way. I even remember having to unattach myself from reality in order to get through it. If this happened to you, basically your brain is replaying that coping skill, because it doesn't realize it's over. I can even come back years later. So, the "trick" is to get enough talk therapy so you can begin to overcome the trauma.
But then I found something better: a support group for you! The link is below.
Good luck, hon. I seriously mean that. Write me anytime.
