Some years back, I was retrenched. And a few months after that, my partner decided to further studies abroad and didn't want me to tag along. I had to leave the rented apartment because I couldn't afford it. My car was repossessed for the same reason.

I went out looking for jobs and told myself that I would start all over again. I took a job that paid only a quarter of what I was earning previously. And the reasons I accepted besides the money is because the company provided free lodging. Since I had no place to stay, this was one of the best offers I could get.

And I decided to work on myself again. I went to the public library during the weekends and read books that can rebuild my confidence and esteem. At night, I would read some more, pray and ask for help. I also kept a diary and wrote how I felt. I wrote new goals and what I wanted and 2 of them were looking for a better paying job and specifically writing down how much salary I expected and the other was to find a new place where I can have my own privacy. In the evenings, I took long walks. That helped a lot.

Seven months after that, I received a call from a former employer. I was offered a job with the exact amount of salary that I had written. And of course I had to leave the hostel. A friend offered me to share his rent with another friend. And things changed.

What I am trying to tell you is that many of us have gone and will still go through many challenges in life. This is part of life. What's important is to take a little bit of action each day to get out of the rut. And another important thing is to make the best of what you have right now but at the same time looking out at the positive, possibilities and your potential and expecting the best.

Whenever I feel down, I remind myself that I am grateful that I am still alive and breathing and in good health. With that in mind, I know that I will be alright.

I hope you can find some time to contemplate and reflect on your present state of mind. Take a few pieces of paper and write down what exactly is making you feel the way you do and how exactly you want to feel.

Take care.

I know exactly how you feel. I advise you to go to a doc and talk to them about it. Just remember stay positive, it gets better

I've experienced that. Your body aches. I know of what you are going through. If you need to vent, feel free to contact me. But know this, it will pass. You are not alone. You will emerge from this.
