My dad is trying to make me take my meds?!

Question: My dad is trying to make me take my meds?
I have tried to take meds for awhile now but every time they overall make it worse. I just got prescribed this stuff (forgot the name) and it makes me unberably tired, it's supposed to calm my anxiety but it doesn't. It makes me so tired i can barley think.

I believe my prob is that when i was younger i had a stressful childhood (not getting into that too much), and had to constantly worry to keep myself safe & had to think like that to be okay. Now i removed myself from that situation but my anxiety level is still crazy & has only got worse & worse because i keep fighting it, but my brain is like why are you fighting this...just trying to help!! But it's making it worse & causing more anxiety cause there isn't a threat anymore & it's just used to it, or something like that.

Isn't that what therapists do? Find out your problem, why you have it, and rehibilitate you? Well i got 2 down, and i have the linden method-which teaches me other stuff & i have a few of my own things i can try.

So...do you think it's wrong my dad is trying to shove pills down my throat when i could get better on my own? He thinks i can't cause he used to have driving anxiety and still does a little, but he says take the pills you'll be better. I told him, that's you not me. Myn is different from yours-im prone to it since all my aunts & dad have anxiety, and my mom is crazy. So no wonder i have issues lol but it's not chemically caused im sure of that. It's a way of thinking & i know my own mind and have figured out mostly how it works.

Do you think he has the right to try and force me to take them? Cause i don't...my body...my mind...my f u c k i n g choice right?

Answers:

i guess in a way your dad is trying to help you

what is your age btw

therapy will help you i believe and anti anxiety meds can be addictive

talk to your dad in a calm manner and explain why you do not want the meds and how they make u feel
its perfectly reasonably to assume that therapy can help and doe help many ppl with anxiety and others can get better by themselves

i dont think its right to force someone to take meds but it all depends on what the meds are for and what is wrong with the person

best wishes

well given your age then no i dont think he ought to be trying to force you to take your meds
you have not been sectioned, not deemed a danger to yourself or others just tell him straight or write a letter to him explaining your reasons

meds for anxiety only treat the symptoms and not the cause

I don't believe in forcing anyone unless they are a danger to someone else.
Try first getting different medication. They many times have to take a guess
on what to prescribe, after i tried 8 different medications.
They asked me what i wanted.I never went back.
Everyone is different,i beat many issues on my own.
Only try that as a last resort.remember.people have jobs.
bye

It depends on your age. If you are 17 and above you can do whatever you want. You don't have to take them, but under law he has the right to continue to give them to you. But in reality you don't have to do anything you don't want to, even if there are consequences involved. If you don't think they are helping next time you go to the doctors tell them you don't want to take the medication and refuse to take it.
