Is having a fear of food a bad sign?!

Question: Is having a fear of food a bad sign?
I have depression that I fight, and I have recently begun having a fear of food. I'm not unhappy with my weight it's just more of a control thing I think over my depression. I just think "This is foolish" and eat the food anyway, however the thoughts still kind of there. Should I get help now or think it'll just kind of go away? I really don't want to develop an eating disorder. I know people who have them and it's horrible.

Answers:

It could be the very beginning stages of an eating disorder. In reality, eating disorders aren't about weight, but about the underlying issues, such as control. Continue to challenge the thoughts by eating the food anyway, and if these thoughts persist or get worse, you should talk to your therapist or a dietician about it.
I have had an eating disorder for several years. It's always best to get help sooner rather than later, and you should definitely be aware of your attitude toward food and weight so that you can prevent it from becoming disordered

It's great that you can talk yourself into eating. You need to get help before this becomes a serious problem. Sometimes depression can take your appetite away. You should talk to your psychiatrist about this because Anorexia and Bulimia are control issues. Please stop it now while you can.

You don't say why you would fear the food.
We all have to eat to stay alive and our bodies require good nutrition to stay healthy, so please check this obsession you are developing about food intake and find the reason for it. Because it is unhealthy and will make your depression worse instead of better.
I wish you all th best.

Right now, you describe what is called an intrusive thought. You are able to ignore it, but it is bothersome. You need to work with a professional and let them know about the thoughts. The best way to not let things grow into new problems is to have help along the way. You are smart to be concerned. You can get help for these thoughts, and you'll be happy that you did.

I think you should either seek help or talk to a guidence conceler (if your in school) or a therapist.

Good luck!<3
