Question: Self Esteem Help??? Cure?

My friend thinks she is ugly. She degrades herself (in public.) She says that she is stupid and not as pretty as my fair (as in white) friend. She does great in school but she keeps comparing herself to Meg (my friend's nick name.) Meg got 3% more ONLY but she said that she did bad. And you know how mean teenagers can be. Because she is sort of dark, others say that she ugly and breaks mirrors when she looks them. I don't think it is very nice. When I talk to her she just does not believe. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE. She is really always sad and upset. I really wanna help her. She is very sweet. She is my best friend. And I only realized this year that I knew nothing about her. What should I do to help her? Please give me some advice because she is not listenening to me and I become really sad with all that she says.

You can't help her....she has to get the help for herself. She needs to talk to the school counselor, see a therapist and start on treatment. If she doesn't, I fear what she will do to herself.

The only thing you can do is be there for her, talk to her, help her to stand up to the bullies....and talk to the school counselor or a teacher and tell them what's going on. Maybe they can step in and help.

That is called in sociology: BASIS OF TRUST till you keep fighting with her she will get more excuses to believe it as such. Keep being her friend today, everything will be ok tomorrow. she will find the reality of life by herself knowing whether she is or not.
